How Stean Gorge

How Stean Gorge, Lofthouse, Yorkshire, England

How Stean Gorge is a natural limestone gorge that has been a visitor attraction for over a hundred years. There are natural footpaths along and crossing the gorge on narrow bridge, with Tom Taylors Cave to explore.

Above the gorge is the visitor centre with a glass floor where you can view our customers engaging in such activities as Gorge Walking, Abseiling, Via Ferrate or tourists wandering on the footpath vanishing into Tom Taylor's cave. The restaurant is open all year with all baking taking place on site.

We run our own public activity centre for the enjoyment of all. Make the most of the gorgeous, picturesque surroundings and stay in one of our 7 wood-built lodges with hot tub, sleeping from 2 to 10 people in each.

How Stean Gorge is located at the top of Nidderdale 22 miles north of Harrogate in the Yorkshire Dales HG3 5SF. It is in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is situated more or less at the centre of Britain. Located between Leeds, Harrogate and Thirsk railway stations.
