The Granary at Moat Farm

Dog Friendly Cottage in Thorndon Village

Romantic Retreat in Eye, Suffolk
The Granary at Moat Farm is located in the village of Thorndon in Suffolk. It makes the perfect base for a romantic break for a couple or a relaxing countryside holiday for two individuals at any time of the year.

A cosy but by no means small, single storey old traditional rafted ceilings farm building that has been tastefully renovated to a high standard. It features a separate open plan living and kitchen area complete with a homely wood burner for those cold winter nights and a comfy sofa and armchairs to sit back and relax with a glass of wine.

In the second room is the large bedroom with a super king size bed (which can be converted to two single beds upon request) and a new ensuite shower room with w.c.

The Granary displays original beamed high ceilings throughout and its decor exudes a fresh, cosy countryside feel. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need including all white goods (cooker with 4 hobs and oven and grill, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster and microwave) and crockery, cutlery, glasses and a selection of cookware and utensils.

There is ample parking at the property and in the private enclosed garden there is patio furniture, a barbecue, a neatly mown lawn and tranquil pond to relax by on long summer evenings.

We are pleased for our guests to also bring one or two small/medium well-behaved dogs with them and take advantage of the beautiful walks on offer in the surrounding area. We love dogs so completely understand that for many people a holiday in the UK wouldn't be the same without their beloved dog/s. All we ask is that you please ring 01379 678437 or email us, to let us know you will be wishing to bring a dog or dogs with you, as some conditions do apply.

Please note that we kindly ask that you do not smoke inside the Granary due to fire safety. If you wish to smoke, please do so outside and use the sand filled buckets to safely dispose of any cigarette ends.

Book a stay at The Granary with your loved one and enjoy a romantic break in this beautiful part of Suffolk.

The Granary at Moat Farm is situated in the small village of Thorndon which benefits from a good village pub and a village shop just a short walk away selling local produce and some everyday essentials; larger supermarkets and other pubs and restaurants are just a short drive away in the surrounding villages and towns.

Thorndon is surrounded by a network of footpaths, where many pleasant walks can be enjoyed. There is also a village church to explore.
For cyclists, the quiet country lanes provide ample opportunities to explore a little further afield.

A short drive away is Thornham Country Park where the natural woodland provides a habitat for abundant wildlife that can be observed firsthand whilst taking a leisurely stroll.

Nearby Framlingham, a sleepy village boasting a turreted castle and once the original seat of the Dukes of Norfolk, lies in an area which has become the centre of East Anglia's flourishing wine industry, and a number of local vineyards offer tours and tastings.

For archaeological enthusiasts, Sutton Hoo provides an absorbing day out - now managed by the National Trust, this Anglo-Saxon burial site of Raedwald (King of East Anglia), was the place where priceless treasure was discovered within a huge ship grave.

Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens provide a further enjoyable day out nearby. Within 25 miles lie Bury St Edmunds, Norwich and the Suffolk/Norfolk coast. In addition, nearby Eye has a collection of boutique shops and groceries stores.
